bowman @Jeff5142 Forget about those speculative stocks.
This is still one of the safest stocks without much price fluatuation which give out decent dividend every three months. The next dividend is expected to be declared again by end of this month. 'Goreng kaki' can go to gloves, masks and technology stocks.

Decent dividends?

irwan CGS-CIMB's Malaysia healthcare sector coverage includes IHH Healthcare Bhd, KPJ Healthcare Bhd and Pharmaniaga Bhd.

bowman In all eventualities, this is the largest Bumi-owned healthcare network and most GLCs and other large entities use their services. Way I see it, the reasoning by Investeye (below) is valid:

@Investeye KPJ is getting more interesting for mid/long term:
- Worse is over (https://www.malaymail.com/news/money/2020/07/09/kpj-sees-gradual-recov...)
- KPJ is potential to provide diagnostic test when the covid 19 Vaccine is ready to use (normally selected specialists or gov hospitals due to this vaccine new for the market)
- Health tourism will recover after the covid 19
- Revenue/Profit contribution from new opening outlets
- Focus of Budget 2021 in Healthcare

Virus t Recovering gradually. KPJ have been seeing improvements in its operational metrics following the relaxation of MCO starting from the month of May. Outpatient footfall (April: 130,327, May: 165,680, June: 197,398) and bed occupancy rate (April: 27%, May: 31%, June: 39%) have been gradually improving, despite it has yet to return to pre-Covid levels. Number of surgeries performed (April: 3,377, May: 4,586, June: 7,053) has also been on an uptrend.

It used to do share buyback quite aggressively 1-2 years ago
05/09/2020 5:52 PM
Virus t Regardless herd immunity or vaccination, covid-19 will end someday. But KPJ never stop expansion of business with 4 hospitals (KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn, KPJ Batu Pahat, KPJ Perlis and KPJ Miri) opened in last 2yrs. With the recovery in progress, those appointment and procedure were postponed during lock down/MCO MUST return. Following quarter will see significant increase in demand and occupancy rate. Let see better and surprise quarter result for KPJ.

bowman As expected it hit a low of 0.82. If Dow is red, you can look at 0.78-0.79. This counter needs another 6 months to prove itself and with the recent KMC problem, odds are piling up against a move upwards

hksoon For kenanga research stock pick, we like KPJ as (i) start-up costs from new openings will be absorbed by incremental ramp-ups from earlier openings and steady contributions from matured hospitals, and (ii) the stock is currently trading at 20% and 40% discounts compared to historical average of 25.5 times and regional peers of 35 times, respectively.

Donator "tendency for people to move to public hospitals, especially maternity services."

How you see this tendency?
13/11/2020 2:42 PM
DickyMe As long as normal delivery is shunned for cesarean, by private hospitals that move will continue.
Billing is another issue when compared to public.

However, today's women are wimpy and spoilt brats compared to yesteryear ladies of steel.
They toiled even while conceiving unlike crybabies of today, which enables normal delivery.
13/11/2020 3:47 PM
bowman Forget about maternity services - KPJ has transformed itself over the last 12 months - to have a specialists section in its hospital setup, offering services including geriatric care. But main income earner this coming quarter and the next will likely be the vaccination services. Most people are betting on vaccine companies and distributors. I believe hospitals will be the place where the profits will be realised most. Clinics may not have the facilities for storage as do hospitals and since corporate companies have their own panels, ie. IHH and KPJ, and the likes, vaccination will likely to be part of the packages to be offered by these medical centres to their corporate clientele. This is not to mention tapping into regional "medical tourists" who may want to be vaccinated as well if they can afford it. Just a few sens thought
17/11/2020 4:15 PM
Donator So summary is buy call?
18/11/2020 10:13 AM
spammerx for future, gov hospital will close and the only option is? gov hospital make gov bank bleed
19/11/2020 2:00 PM
DickyMe KPJ must be dreaming. Medical expertise around Asia countries are improving at rapid phase with quality service. Major surgeries are costing 40 to 60 percent lesser elsewhere.
Here the quality of doctors are suspect. Majority are there just for the money and to feel proud among their circle for being a doctor. Their dedication and knowledge is below par.
19/11/2020 2:05 PM
Shadows With cases picking up, it would be difficult to reopen border for international patient. This is a big roadblock for this year growth. Q4 result should be lower as walk in patient is highly affected.

bowman As expected, it reached a new high today. The KPJ group can be likened to the convenience store of private hospitals. It has a total of 29 hospitals in the country and interest in Indonesia. Citibank's creditcard even a list of KPJ Hospitals. This tells you how poised it is already as a private medical facility in the country.

How many of private, GLCs, and semi-government agencies are using its services, only a detailed count can reveal. With the coming availability of vaccine, one would expect private hospitals like this one - which has an extensive clientele comprising private companies and semi-government entities (GLCs also) - would be the immediate beneficiary. Ther are well equipped with storage facilities and expertise to meet on-demand needs than public facilities where queues are common and frustrating.
